Principal Investigator

Swapnajit Chakravarty, Ph.D.,

Dr. Swapnajit Chakravarty obtained his PhD in Electrical Engineering, specializing in optoelectronics and nanophotonics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2007. He obtained his B.E. degree in Electrical Engineering in 2001 from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India, and his M.S. in Electrical Engineering (Electronic Materials and Devices) from the University of Cincinnati in 2003. Prior to joining the University of Dayton, Dr. Chakravarty held a Principal Research Scientist position at IMEC-USA.

Dr. Chakravarty has been an active researcher in integrated nanophotonic devices. His research has covered various nanophotonic lasers, light emitters, chem-bio sensors, on-chip spectrometers on silicon photonics, lithium niobate and III-V material platforms and hybrids. Currently, he investigates hybrid integration of advanced materials for applications in computing, communications and chem-bio sensing /spectroscopy. Dr. Chakravarty has nearly 150 publications in refereed journals and conferences. Dr. Chakravarty holds 12 issued and pending patents on various aspects of nanophotonic sensing. Dr. Chakravarty is a Senior Member of IEEE, SPIE and Optica.
